Mountain Bike Advocacy : CAMBA Responds to CVNP Stakeholder Survey

Advocacy As we've already told you, The National Park Service, in cooperation with Cleveland Metroparks and Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is developing a new Comprehensive Trail Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP).  This Plan is needed to guide the future course of trail management and development in Ohio’s only National Park.

As part of this process, CVNP asked a number of stakeholder groups to provide early input into this trail planning process by responding to a survey developed by the park.  CAMBA was one of the groups asked to answer the survey and we provided an extensive, 15 page response to the park's questions...

Trail Building : Notice more leaves on the trails this fall?

TrailBuilding

This year you may be noticing more leaves on trails that CAMBA maintains.  That's because in the past we have run a leaf blower over our trails at least once per fall.  This fall, we've decided not to do any leaf blowing and see how it works out.  Our hope is that it makes the trails more durable through the winter and early spring.  The vast majority of trails are never cleared of leaves, so it was actually pretty unusual that we did this in the first place.  Next year, we'll make a decision (at a meeting) on how this worked out.

Think about it...

Rule of the Trail #2: Leave No Trace.  Practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage. When the trailbed is soft, consider other riding options. Stay on existing trails and don't create new ones.
