NOACA Bike Count Program

NOACA, the regional transportation planning entity for the Northeast Ohio region, is launching a new bike count program. The new program will help better prioritize investments in the regional bicycle infrastructure and further level the playing field between non-motorized and motorized projects by incorporating better data. In order to execute this program, we are looking to recruit volunteers to assist with the counts.

Volunteers will be asked to give either five or nine hours of their time by counting bicycles outside at various intersections throughout Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina Counties. Count times will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on September 13th, 14th, and 15th, (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), and from 11:00 AM – 1:00PM on September 17th(Saturday). Volunteers will also be asked to attend a training session either on Tuesday, September 6th or Wednesday, September 7th at 5:30 PM at NOACA (1299 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114). Please go to our bike count volunteer webpage for addition details. Also, feel free to call or email with any additional questions.

This is our inaugural year for this new program, so we are looking to get the word out as much as possible to build a strong volunteer base for this year and years to come. Depending on their ability to count two or four days, we are looking to recruit 20-40 volunteers. Please help us accomplish this by informing constituents, posting the flyer anywhere necessary, and/or forwarding this email to anyone you may think would be interested. We are looking to draft a schedule of assignments by September 2nd. Thanks so much and again feel free to email me with any questions.
