Join CAMBA for our FREE Fall Campout at Lake Hope State Park hosted by CAMBA and Dr’s of Optometry during the weekend of Friday, September 13th through Sunday, September 15th.
Lake Hope is located outside of Athens, OH and is home great single track which starts right at the campsite. This trail is a flowing contour trail which is suitable for going slow and enjoying the scenery or going fast and frenetic.
CAMBA and Dr’s of Optometry has reserved group campsite #114 and is free for all!
As always we’ll ride in groups of varying experience and skill levels led by CAMBA leaders. Experienced riders will see 20+ miles of trails while beginners can ride as little as a few miles with plenty of points to bail out in between.
Official Schedule:
- Friday September 13th: Arrive anytime after 4:00 pm, Set up camp & relax. Bring lights if you’re interested in a night ride! Afterwards hang out around the fire.
- Saturday September 14th: 11AM Group Ride starts. Distances will vary by ability and interest. Typically 3-4 groups will form.
- Sunday September 15th: Another group ride starting at 10AM. Distances vary by what you have left.
Unofficial pre-ride:
There will be an unofficial ride Friday afternoon at a trail en route to Lake Hope. The committee is still deciding where to ride but we have ridden Chestnut Ridge, Alum Creek, and Sells Park/Shrouds Run in the past. Where will we go this year?
What to bring:
- Tent and camping gear
- Bring your own food and beverages.
- There will be a fire available but bringing a grill wouldn’t hurt too.
- The closest bike shop is in Athens and has limited hours so make sure you have all the bike gear you may need.

Navigate to the following location and continue on to Group camp site 114 at the end of the campground. Google Maps
Old School: Take Interstate 71 South to Columbus. When you reach the first intersection of the 270 outer belt, take it east. Continue on 270, which will head south, until you reach Route 33. Take Route 33 east to Nelsonville. Take 278 South to Lake Hope State Park. Follow the park road to group camp 114. (Driving time approximately 3.5-4.0 hours) Note: there are other ways (e.g. I-77 to SR 50) of getting to Lake Hope from where you live.
